Agabaxin 500mg contains Levofloxacin, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic. This medication effectively treats various bacterial infections including respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible bacteria.UsesAgabaxin treats bacterial infections including pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, urinary tract infections, prostatitis, and certain skin and soft tissue infections. It’s also used for anthrax prophylaxis and treatment in people exposed to anthrax germs in the air.BenefitsEffective against broad spectrum of bacterial infectionsConvenient once-daily dosing for most conditionsCan be taken with or without foodAvailable in oral and intravenous formsTreats infections resistant to other antibioticsAchieves high tissue penetrationEffective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteriaShorter treatment duration for many infectionsWell-absorbed with excellent bioavailabilityHow It WorksAgabaxin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes, which are essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. Serious but rare side effects include tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, worsening of myasthenia gravis, and severe allergic reactions requiring immediate medical attention.WarningAgabaxin can cause serious side effects including tendinitis and tendon rupture, especially in elderly patients and those on corticosteroids. It may worsen muscle weakness in myasthenia gravis patients. Stop taking immediately if you experience tendon pain, swelling, numbness, tingling, or severe nerve damage symptoms.Pregnancy and BreastfeedingAgabaxin should be used during pregnancy only if potential benefits justify risks to the fetus. It’s not recommended during breastfeeding due to potential serious adverse reactions in nursing infants.
